  • Color Wheel/Color Theory

    Goals and objectives: 1) students will identify primary and secondary colors 2) Students will identify shapes used to create forms 3) students will demonstrate an understanding of color mixing and paint styles by creating their own small painting using the style of the artist Jacob Lawrence as inspiration.

  • Found Object Sculpture/assemblage

    Goals and Objectives: Students will discuss the work of Debra Butterfield. They will gain an understanding of how found objects / everyday objects / junk — can suggest the shape and form of a piece of artwork. Using the idea that all items can be used to create artwork, the students will use found object to create a sculpture of a person, animals or plant.

  • Peter Max — Pop Art

    Goals and Objectives: the student will gain an understanding of the life and work of artist Peter Max, the difference between commercial art and fine art, and how art can make a statement by addressing social issues. They will demonstrate this understanding by creating their own poster in the style of Peter Max.
